I have uploaded the scoring drives for this game. Here is the first half. On Houston’s first drive they threw hot to the outside WR twice, last time for a touchdown. Some really great stuff. This is the first half, second half I will talk more about tomorrow.

If only Klingler knew how to grip the ball and didn’t overstride. Mechanics so often overlooked. The truth came out later.

It really did. I’ll talk more about the second half tomorrow but had it not been for maybe the best Superback in that time period, Houston could have lost this game because of the INT’s Klingler threw.

The HOT pass at around the 2 minute mark of the film is a thing of beauty. Amazing how something that easy can cost a defense that much. Love hearing the announcers talk about taking what the defense gives you. A few coordinators would be smart to follow that basic rule. This is great content.
John I agree with you totally. He was a great QB for what they did but got exposed later on in his career. Its still fun watching an old school gunslinger just whip that ball around the yard though

Excellent- Great seeing the old John Jenkins Run and Shoot Stuff. Keep the good stuff like this coming. Would love to see some of the “Old School” Triple Shoot/Run and Shoot Film from the Hofstra era.

Obvious bias here, but….
Klingler was a lot better than most ever gave credit for. In high school he might have thrown 2 or 3 passes per game. Once in the pros, he played for more OC’s than he played years in the league. That and shoulder surgery hurt him. And lets face it, nobody who played for the Bengals did much.
Great character though. I think he’s a minister now.
